Is This Your Business?

Wildcat Park is a local multi-use park just south of Joplin. There are several walking trails that also serve as driveways or parkways. A creek or stream at the east end of the park could offer good cover or excuse in case a situation (police, etc.) arises.
Crowd: Married guys, single guys needing a public spot to play.

Neighbourhood: South of City Limits/Shoal Creek Drive

Who's Coming

Married guys, single guys needing a public spot to play.

Take Main St/Hearnes Blvd south of I-44. Entrance is about 1/4 mile south on right hand side of road.
Cross street: I-44/MO 86 (Hearnes Blvd)
  • Crowd:Married guys, single guys needing a public spot to play.
  • Hours:7 am-11 pm daily.
Best times: Seems like some traffic early mornings/weekdays. I've seen some cruising as of late between 7:00 am and 10:00 am weekdays.
    Dates open: Year-round
  • Cruising Info/ Tips:Traditional car cruising: Brake lights and flashing headlights seem to get attention. Park next to other vehicles near baseball fields.
Cruisiest Spots: There is a slightly secluded area behind a set of trails near the baseball fields. This area has some tree coverage and can somewhat shield vehicles from the main drive. There are also several other trails in the park that lead to areas of some seclusion, but I have yet to explore those spots.
  • Wheelchair Accessible:No
  • Warnings:Apparently, this has been a spot where cruisers have been busted in the past. I've not seen any law enforcement presence, but I have yet to be there very late at night recently.

  • Drove by earlier this morning and noticed some police cars near the main entrance just hanging out. Were they just idly chatting, or trying to deter us from playing around there??

Either way, it pissed me off.

  • The main road is all torn up these days, so access is limited. One can still get to semi-seclusion and/or parking areas, though.

  • Drove down through Wildcat Park today to see how things were progressing there. The nature center looks like it's a ways from completion--there's a temporary, tent-like building up. Coming through the back way around 845-900 am there were a few cars parked in odd locations, including one or two in the far recesses of the park--well out of sight of any construction. Looks like we'll be cruising it until the bitter end.
