Ile de Re
There are several nude beaches on this island toward which authorities have a relaxed attitude. Between Le Bois-Plage-en-Re and La Couarde-sur-Mer, there are several small turn offs which led to the unmarked beach known as Petites-Follies. Access the beach at any point and if you encounter clothed bathers continue walking until you reach the nude area. Further west, after La Couarde-sur-Mer, rejoin D735 for 10 kms. then bear right onto D101 for a few kms. until it turns sharply right (east) continue a km. turn left into unmarked road which lead to a parking lot for a beach usually called Conche les Baleines. Walk west (left as you face the water) on the beach past three concrete blockhouses, and you will encounter nude bathers.

La Rochelle is the largest town in Charente-Maritime. Just west of town is the island of Ile de Re, which has several nude beaches. From La Rochelle head west on D735 over bridge to roundabout then onto D201 to La Couarde Sur Mer, and further on D101.
