From Springfield, Go south on Hwy 65. Look for the Evans Rd. Exit (It is the first exit as you leave town, crossing the bridge). Take the Evans Road exit, turn right. Stay on that road for a couple miles, looking for another bridge at the powerplant. You will cross the bride, the road curves to the right, and the gated entrance to the park is there on the right. 11/25/05 A members adds: irections from the S. Springfield area are:
South on Fremont St. to a stop sign T intersection (this will be south of Republic Road w/fire station on left), turn left here and follow the road for about 1 1/2 miles, the open gate entrance will be on the left at the end of a slow left curve in the road.
This is an easier way to get there from the south side of town.
Cross street: Evans Road/Farm Rd. 169
  • Crowd:All ages. I see everything from 20's to probably 70's. Since the bookstore closed, seems to be lots of married guys.
  • Hours:I think the hours are from sun up to sun down.
    Best times: Lunch times and afternoon when people are getting off work seem to be the best for me.
    Dates open: Year round, weather permitting
  • Cruising Info/ Tips:Best was to walk up the hill into the woods. Not sure now that they have posted no trespassing signs.
    Cruisiest Spots: The best spot usually is at the very end of the road near the water. Lots of people hike up the beaten paths up the hill into the woods to meet.
  • Wheelchair Accessible:No
  • Warnings:Because this spot has been so active, the police have been wathing it closer. I was there the day (03-11-04) city utilities posted no trespassing signs at edge of the woods. A police officer was there to chase the 5 guys off the paths.
    Warnings: (March '04) Have been told there has been plain clothed officers in the area. In my opinion, the action has been hot there drawing attention to it. I feel like this will pass though....Hopefully.
    11/18/04 A cruiser adds: Springfield lake they have closed most of the trails and put up no tresspessing signs. Police activity is off and on out there. Uniform and undercover. There have been some arrest. But the ones that have been arrested I don't fell showed and common sense. It os a public place you have to be somewhat careful what you do when you can be seen and how you approch people.

  • I wouldn't recommend cruising here anymore. I was there in December 2007, after the new clubhouse opened. Since Springfield Public Parks have taken ownership of the park; security cameras and no trespassing signs have been installed. They even have Midwest Security/Springfield Police/Greene County sheriff patrolling the area quite a lot.

    If you are looking for something safe- DO NOT GO HERE!

  • i do not believe many men cruise this area much because the city/county park system has taken over and many straight families/couples are there.

  • There is also a Gay Nudiest camp down by Branson at Lampe I guess . I don't know how good it is just heard about it .
