Is This Your Business?

Rock ledges overlooking Lake Woods. Lots of woods. There'll be something going on unless it's raining. From Ellsworth take route 3?to Hull's?Cove.? Turn right onto Crooked Rd.? Go about 1/2 mile and look for road on left. There is a small national park sign indicating you are there.? It is not easy to see...drive slow or you'll go by it.? The road is paved for a few feet, then dirt.? Go 1/4 mile and park at the first upper lot (free parking).? Follow the trail through the woods and decend to the clothing optional area, on the rock ledges by the lake.? (The lower parking lot will take you to the public non-nude beach).

There is a restroom facility provided at the lower public parking lot (nudity is not allowed in this area).
Crowd: Everybody. Really. Cruisers for miles around, tourist cruisers, trolls, hippie-chicks and entire families of Quebecois.

Who's Coming

Everybody. Really. Cruisers for miles around, tourist cruisers, trolls, hippie-chicks and entire families of Quebecois.

Off Crooked Road, about 1 mile south of Hull's Cove. Paved Acadia National Park entrance. Sign at entrance says 'Day Use Only - 6AM to 10PM'
  • Crowd:Everybody. Really. Cruisers for miles around, tourist cruisers, trolls, hippie-chicks and entire families of Quebecois.
  • Hours:6 am to 10 pm -- and they MEAN it!
Best times: Sunny summer days, noonish until dark.
Dates open: 6 am to 10 pm -- and they MEAN it!
  • Cruising Info/ Tips:Stay to the left when you get to the parking area. The trail uphill from the parking area leads directly to the nude sector. The trail by the park toilet goes to the 'family' area.
Cruisiest Spots: Uphill in the woods.
  • Nudity / Policy:Yes / Not required, but you'll feel out of place with trunks on...
  • Wheelchair Accessible:No
  • Warnings:Avoid the park toilet. Rangers aren't too keen on the gay beach, but the beach itself is OFF of park property, so it's okay. Just make sure you're way uphill and as far from the parking area as possible. Update: Park rangers do go through at least once a day and walk
the paths up into the woods. They
don't allow nudity up there, but once they have gone, clothes come off.
    What they are looking for
is people cruising the area and having . Be careful until you know
    that they are gone.
Warnings: There's a lot of creepy voyeuristic types in the area. Got to keep an eye over your shoulder most of the time during the day.

  • Might want to be sure to be discrete and exercise a little caution. When visiting last week, patrols through the parking lot seemed to be pretty frequent (every hour or so in the afternoon). On one day, patrol car stopped up above the parking lot and a young guy dressed in civilian clothers hopped in the car with the ranger and they drove off - an undercover ranger?
Did see at the end of the week one fellow sunning out on the rocks halfway between the ledge and the beach area. Had his dog there as an early warning system! good idea
