Is This Your Business?

All are welcome here, but security on the door makes this a safe venue. Music policy is rather camp during the week, but there are different themes. Tuesdays evenings are currently Kruz ( DJ Justin K )and this is a night of hot current club tunes from europe and london. This theme runs during the early hours over the weekend from 2am-6pm. Marcia plays some nights, and these are gay favourites 70s and 80s music. There are also special events, hosted by Anastacia, Dale (manager) and Wayne who djs occasionally. Other guest djs play over the weekends.
Crowd: A total mixed bag of guys, and also some women who are also welcome. Security is good on the door. If you are too drunk or intoxicated on the door you might get turned away!!!

Neighbourhood: Kemptown, the main gay street!

  • Hours:The Bulldog is open from about midday, through to approximately 12am at night on weekdays. HOWEVER, it stays open all night until 8am over the weekends, earlier during cold months, but much later during the summer.
Best times: Anytime, after work it is even busier, during the summer months it is busy all day, and over the weekend it is crammed - particularly after hours from 2am-6am.
  • Cruising Info/ Tips:Explore the venue in full - you will be surprised. More so from July/August 2006 onwards ! The Bulldog are also known for their Pride street parties, but this has been curtailed (typically) by the Pride comittee. It will be a massive party anyway tho!
Cruisiest Spots: The Bulldog are undergoing major changes as it is set on 2 floors, and it is being re painted, re floored with many new surprises to come. Many of the men who go in there are usually :) For the most part it is a mens venue, but it is also a well known establishment for everybody young and old. It's a question of picking the right times. Remember this pub has been around for 26 years! So old, new and boys come here!!!
  • Nudity / Policy:Look ! Some of the men in here canbe rough looking, but with it too!
  • Wheelchair Accessible:No / I'm not sure about wheelchair access, but it in on street level, but up 2 steps.
  • Warnings:Due to no cloakroom, coats are left on hooks everywhere around the pub. It really is advised to keep all valuables on your person, and an eye on your coats.
Warnings: You might get told 'i love you' by a total stranger! particularly during the early hours of the morning over weekends!! Not too many people are sober then! Hence the livliness of the vanue.
