  • I'm headed there this evening though I know it'll be hit or miss. Does anyone know of any good cruising spots in the area I could check out on the 'miss' days?

  • yeah. whenever I have gone not much to choose from and even going for a walk I have literally had to outrun or outsmart chasers whom dont care if ur not interested. I'd rather meet people from on here there

  • FYI the woods are open - I drove past a few days ago and it was slim pickings (prolly cuz no one is aware these are open yet) and again - ALL older over 40s. Like BillyBoy said - its mostly the older crowd now for some reason. Prolly cuz the young ones have been scared away. Everytime I go, I get followed even though I indicate I'm not interested - and when I find someone I like - I always get an audience of 2 or 3 bears. Honestly, if you aren't asked to join and if poeple stop playing when you arrive - GO AWAY.

  • This place is closed for the winter. The front parking lot is open, but you can't get into the actual cruisy area. Go north on La Grange a little bit to the other forest, that's open. That place gets really cruisy during the lunch hour and on weekends.

  • studfuck8x6, you are VERY lucky. The state statute is clear - any law enforcement officer can ask you for identification at any time for whatever reason. They do NOT need probable cause. If you drive your car onto a public tax funded property, they can ask you for registeration without probable cause. Refusing to do so can result in arrest until you produce a legal identificaiton such as a drivers license, birth certificate (not a copy either) or a passport.

  • I visited Arie Crown Woods Labor Day 2008 in the early afternoon. I, too, was acosted by - ooops, harrassed by - oooops, stopped by one of Todd Stroger's minions... a Cook County Forest Preserve Officer. He called it a "roadside safety check". And just for the record, he didn't have any issues with all the open alcohol floating around all the picnics.

  • Hey all - just wanted to say be a little careful here. I stopped by yesterday and there were two cops - the County Sherriff and the forest preserve police - right at the entrance to the woods stopping all cars going in and "questioning" them. When I pulled up they said they were "roadside complaint" and wanted to know why I was in the woods and wanted to see my license and registration. I flat out refused, saying the woods were public and I was there for a jog (I always bring shoes and shorts just in case as a cover) - and said that unless a "complaint" had been registered against me or I was bring pulled over for something illegal I had no reason to hand over my identifying info. They didn;t like that much but had no choice but to let me in. Anyways - perhaps it was because it was labor day and they were being altert and on patrol but just keep an eye out guys.
