Westfield River at Cummington
This nude sunbathing beach is on the riverbank of the Westfield River (East Branch). It does not have a name despite its poipularity. It is a beautiful area maintained by its regular users. There is a wide sandy beach and a cool pool in the river for swimming and rafting. Men outnumber women nine to one. The beach is popular every day in the warmer months. This is undoubtably the gayest nude beach in New England. Since the signs were placed, most people have parked at other, much smaller, lots located about 0.5 miles and 1.3 miles west of the main lot on Route 9. (The closer one is illustrated.) There is a poor-quality path on the far side of the river, parallel to Route 9, which makes it possible to reach at least the closer parking lot without using the shoulder of the main road, but it is rough walking and involves fording the river at a poorer location.

Driving west on SR-9, after passing through Goshen watch for town sign for Cummington. One mile past sign there is parking lot on left from which trail to nude beach starts. Follow to river, wade across through shallows, stay on well worn trail over hill to nude area.

- Warnings:Be aware there may be time restrictions in the parking lot. Find alternative parking if necessary. At times the river current is very swift.

I checked this place out after discovering it on the net. It was beautiful. A half dozen nude men floating around. Most fit. Too bad I didn't work up the courage to strip. I WILL be bacl.

this is one of my favorite places to go to sun and cruise. there is a small parking lot which can only accomodate perhaps 15 cars at the most so be early. having been going here for yrs and miss it in the winter mths. this past fall some one started to key the cars up in the prk lot which is sad. well worth the visit though

Was there 10/5. I have never been there that late in the season. Lots of hot guys. I saw a fully clothed straight couple hiking through. Then I noticed some white trail blazes. I hope this does not mean the beginning of the end of our secluded naturist area.

Once they put 30 minute limits on parking at the rest area, the number of visitors at Cummington has continued to decline. You now have to park a mile or more west of the old lot and walk back. Then find the trail down to the river and cross. then take a right a short distance and then left on the trail along the stone wall up the hill. About a 10-12 minute walk will bring you to the river again. There is some sunnin' and funnin' here, but many cross the river and go downstream for more fun.
