Longhorn Park at Benbrook Lake

Is This Your Business?

An alternative park at Benbrook is Longhorn Park at the east end of the dam off Dirk's Road at the top of the hill just before you go downhill past Pecan Valley Golf Course. Lot's of guys cruising the parking lot at the top of the hill overlooking the lake, but best place is to drive on down to the boat launch area and park your car at the end of the road and scout out the paved hiking trails near the lake. Lots of discreet action going on the woods there. And lots of guys to do it with there too. Convenient to get to too, only half mile from the south end of Bryant Irvin Rd. Besides all that, the fishing is good there too, so take a pole with you besides the one between your legs, and you will have a ready excuse for being there in case anyone questions you. Don't forget a fishing license though, if you do go fishing. I am headed out there now with both my poles ready for action!
Crowd: Ranges from middle aged guys(30's to 40's) to older guys(50+)...hoping to see younger guys out there too now that summer is cumming!

Neighbourhood: Southwest area of Fort Worth, at the East End of the Benbrook Lake Dam

From the area of Hulen Mall in southwest Fort Worth, follow Hulen Drive south to Alta Mesa and turn west continuing beyond where Alta Mesa becomes Dirk's Road, or better yet, drive south on Bryant Irvin Road until it deadends into Dirk's Road, and go west about a mile til just before you drive down the hill to Pecan Valley Golf Course. There, at the top of the hill (at the east end of Bendbrook Dam) pull into the drive leading off to the south of Dirk's Road into a picnic area and huge parking lot overlooking the lake (kind of an Inspiration Point.) You will see lots of guys parked in cars and pickups sitting alone, waiting to be picked up! Better yet, as you enter the drive, continue on past the picnic area down the incline to the boat launch area, and find a place to park at the end of the drive. Get out and explore the trails leading down to the lake, or especially up into the woods overlooking the lake, where there is more cover for doing what you do best! Many of the trails are paved, and there are other guys out "catching grasshoppers" for fish bait! What these "fishermen" really want to catch is a "big juicy worm!"

  • Hours:6am to 9pm officially, but they have not been locking it up after hours recently...
Best times: Early mornings, lunch time, and after work...
Dates open: Open for the summer
  • Cruising Info/ Tips:Previously, there was a lot of cruising going on at Dutch Branch Park, but that park only recently reopened after being closed for several months for improvements to be made. Now that park costs $3.00 per day to cruise, or for a $30.00 annual membership fee for unlimited cruising. However, Longhorn Park is still free, and appears to be attracting many of those who have not returned to Dutch Branch Park.
Cruisiest Spots: In the wooded areas along the trails south of the boat launch, and up on the hill over looking those trails...
