To stop the spread of HIV in its communities, Northeast Ohio Regional Advisory Group (NEORAG) will hold a local event mirroring National HIV Testing Day. The event will take place Tuesday, June 27, from 10:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. at First Congregational Church of Akron. “National Testing Day presents an opportunity for local agencies across the nation to mobilize against the spread of HIV in their areas,” said Rebecca Callahan, Community Co-Chair of NEORAG. “We hope to increase awareness about HIV within populations most affected by the virus, as well as eliminate a long-standing testing stigma which negatively impacts many of our community members. Come out. Get tested. Know your status.” Gift cards, snacks and goodie bags will be available while supplies last upon completion of testing. Testing only takes twenty minutes. This year’s event is a collaboration of NEORAG agencies, including CANAPI, Equitas Health, Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio, and Summit County Public Health.
