On Friday the 4th of August, just one day before the traditional Canal Pride or the Gay Pride Weekend, there will be an exciting swim event: Love Swim, an open-water Swim Cup right in the Amstel river. From 4:30pm until 9:00pm swimmers from Holland, the Netherlands and around the world will join each other in a sportive open-water swimming festival. And this is not just some body of water; you will be swimming in the Amstel river from which the city of Amsterdam has originated. Since our Queen Maxima went swimming in the Amstel some years ago the Amstel has been royally approved of.
