DESCRIPTION:

Get into the holiday spirit by dusting off and donning your ugliest sweater! Medium Build: Medium Build is the lo-fi, pop, DIY, genre bending, under produced and oftentimes all too personal brainchild of Atlanta/Nashville transplant Nick Carpenter. Upon his arrival to anchorage in the late summer of 2016 Nick made contact with local bedroom producer/reluctant musician James Glaves. The two began to jive hard on things like seltzer waters, country music, 90's slow jams, non-alcoholic beers, etc. It was decided that a band should be formed to convey Nick's songs in an amplified setting. Glaves hit the rolodex and recruited local rockers James Dommek Jr. for drums, and Chad Reynvaan for bass. The Medium Build sound is hard to put your finger on. People have made comparisons to artists as far across the spectrum as Frank Ocean to Ryan Adams to Weezer to The Cure to The Boss to Buddy Holly to Mac Demarco to pre-justice for all Metallica. Though Nick has frequented the local open mics this show will be the first Anchorage outing as a full band. www.bandcamp.com/mediumbuild music video: https://www.youtube.com/embed/njXc3IaYTJE Hazia: The concoction of songwriter Andy Tholberg, Hāzia blends dreamy guitar lines with effulgent synth parts to form complex soundscapes tied together within beautifully simple song structures. Hāzia's "dreampop" style is sure to mesmerize and leave infectious hooks buried deep in your brain for weeks on end. Evan Phillips: Opening the night will be Evan Phillips. Phillips was born and raised in the foothills of Anchorage’s Chugach Mountains. In his younger years he scaled Denali as a mountain guide and spent the winters traveling through the Southwest desert, living out of the back of his pickup truck. At 27, battling a climbing injury that forever altered the course of his life, Phillips turned to music for inspiration and solace. He started the band The Whipsaws in 2002, and released his first solo album two years later. Evan's most recent solo release "Silhouettes", created over the course of 5 years, represents a new energy for one of Alaska’s most enduring rockers. From the ethereal melodies of the album’s title track, to ambient instrumental “After School Special,” to folk duet lullaby “Guess I Was Just Young,” this album stretches the boundaries of rock and Americana genres.
