Sa-wad-dee friends! You, your friends & family are invited to the 3rd Thai Culture & Food Festival of Dallas! Join us at the heart of the Thai community for a two-day festival filled with authentic Thai cuisines, cultural performances, dances, music and shopping! May 28-29, 2016 11 am-9 pm Sat 11 am-7 pm Sun The Buddhist Center of Dallas - Watdallas 8484 Stults Road, Dallas, TX 75243 Free admission & parking. Open to everyone. Invite your friends & family! Visit www.thaifestdallas.com for more information. 1. Ride the DART to the Forest Ln. Station & walk to the temple. 2. Park on streets & in designated parking areas. 3. Park at the neighboring churches. (Parking only available after 2 pm on Saturday at the Lutheran Church/School because of graduation) Experience Thai food, culture & arts like never before! - See cultural performances by well renowned dance troupes - See Muay Thai demonstrations - Taste Thai foods from all 4 regions of Thailand, including vegan delights - Shop Thai products and arts - Learn more about the temple through the free group tours - Enjoy the spirit of the Thai culture in the heart of the Dallas Thai community! OPENING CEREMONY - Saturday, May 28 at 11 am - opening remarks by festival and community leaders. MAIN STAGE - an ongoing program of cultural & traditional dances & music will run on the main stage located in the temple gardens throughout the two days. See the posted performance schedule on this Facebook event feed. MUAY THAI (or Thai boxing) - 4 demonstrations by muay thai fighters. This will be held at the boxing ring, located between the Food Bazaar and the Thai Marketplace. Times to be announced closer to the festival. FOOD BAZAAR - 15 FOOD BOOTHS of local Thai restaurants will represent & serve Thai delights from all 4 regions of Thailand, from Thai tea, fresh coconuts, chicken satay, fried bananas, sticky rice & mango desserts, papaya salad to the signature Pad Thai. A vegan menu will be available at most booths. Prices range from $1 to $7. For your convenience, bring cash. ATM machines will be available on-site. THAI MARKETPLACE - arts & gifts vendors - Come shop unique Thai arts & crafts, apparel and more! “MADE IN THAILAND” Pop-Up shop of all things made in Thailand and/or designed by Thai artisans, artists or fashion designers. This shop will be managed by the Thai Community Center of North Texas organization and proceeds benefit their 501(c)3 organization. TEMPLE TOURS - 5 guided tours + open house - The Thai community opens their doors to the public during the festival hours for an open house and teamed up with the Crow Collection of Asian Art gallery educators to help guide the 5 free official temple tours during these specific times: Saturday, May 28: 12 pm, 2 pm & 4 pm Sunday, May 29: 1 pm & 3 pm The tours are about 20 minutes long. All guests are asked to remove their shoes upon entering the temple and to not touch anything. Groups or individuals can check-in at the Information Center located at the front festival entrance for the guided tours. Proceeds from the Thai Culture & Food Festival supports the Thai Community Center of North Texas and Buddhist Center of Dallas. Established in 1998, the Thai Community Center of North Texas (TCCNT) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to preserve the Thai culture, religion and tradition through educational training, counseling and informational programs with specific emphasis on the needs of youths, the elderly and the poor.
