WHERE:

Manchester Protest at Trump's inauguration, Manchester

DESCRIPTION:

On Friday 20 January, Donald Trump will be inaugurated as President of the USA. As well as calling on a blanket ban on Muslims entering the US, Trump has a long history of racist outbursts. He has said 'laziness is a trait in blacks', described Mexican immigrants as 'criminals' and 'rapists', and condoned the beating of a Black Lives Matter activist at one of his rallies. He has also said women should be "punished" for having abortions, and chillingly sought to downplay the severity of sexual violence, dismissing boasts of sexually assaulting women as 'locker room talk'. The effects of a Trump presidency is set to be felt all over the world as racism and sexism is normalised through the voice of one of the most powerful and visible figures in the world. A million woman march against Trump is set to descend on Washington. Protests will take place outside the US embassy in London, and elswhere. Manchester Stand Up To Racism has initiated this Manchester protests against Trump's inorgoration. Our demand is - No To Trump! No To Racism! Other organisations and campaigns that are opposed to Trump's political agenda are most welcome. Bring banners and placrds. Speak out against Trump at our open mike. Join the rally against Trump.
