DESCRIPTION:

The Utah State Legislature starts the 2017 legislative session on January 23. We have been looking at the bills slated to be introduced this session and it’s no surprise we’ve noticed a couple bad eggs. That’s where you come in. People power is back on the agenda at the Utah Capitol! Join the Utah Chapter and the Utah Rivers Council on Tuesday, January 31, at 6 pm, in the Centennial Room in the Utah Capitol (350 North State St) for our annual Green Lobby Night. Who:Utah Sierra Club and the Utah Rivers Council What:Green Lobby Night When:Tuesday, January 31, 6:00 pm Where: The Centennial Room, Utah Capitol, 350 North State Street We’ll discuss the dos and don’ts of lobbying your senator and representatives and highlight some of the critical bills affecting the environment that will come before the legislature in 2017, such as attacks on solar energy, funding for boondoggle water pipelines and attempts to take away Salt Lake City’s ability to protect its watershed. We all know what can happen when people don’t engage in our political process. Don’t let Utah be at the mercy of paid lobbyists and special interests. Join us on Capitol Hill Tuesday, January 31 to learn how you can have an impact as a citizen lobbyist. The Utah Legislature works for the people. Let’s put them to work!
