DESCRIPTION:

Documents the origins of the LGTBQ activist group Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence and their mission to “promulgate joy and expiate stigmatic guilt." 57 minutes. 2012. There will be a post-film Q+A with the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence® is a leading-edge Order of queer nuns. Since their first appearance in San Francisco on Easter Sunday, 1979, the Sisters have devoted themselves to community service, ministry and outreach to those on the edges, and to promoting human rights, respect for diversity and spiritual enlightenment. Believing that all people have a right to express their unique joy and beauty, they use humor and irreverent wit to expose the forces of bigotry, complacency and guilt that chain the human spirit. Picture This is a cinematic celebration that offers a diverse array of both narrative and documentary film. It strives to be socially engaging, culturally relevant, and informative while still being fun and entertaining. Picture This will at times provide added features to its screenings in the form of guest speakers, discussion panels, concerts, and other eclectic programming.
