DESCRIPTION:

Spencer Day invites you to join him as he travels through a 100-year period of music that has inspired him as a songwriter. This is the premiere of his new show, Western Standard Time, featuring several original compositions, as well as unique takes on songs from artists such as Rufus Wainwright, Paul Simon, and Blondie to Gershwin, Cole Porter, and a few one hit wonders. By weaving together music from every decade of the last century, Day reveals how much these songs share in common and have informed his creative sensibility. Widely regarded for his original songs that blend compelling melodies, smart lyrics and lush arrangements, Spencer Day has wooed audiences at venues all of the world including Birdland in New York, the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, Jazz Alley in Seattle, the Pacific Rim Jazz Festival in Manila, the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, Tanglewood Music Center in Boston, as well as on national television including The Late, Late Show with Craig Ferguson. His hit song “Till You Come to Me” reached the number one spot on the Contemporary Jazz Billboard charts. His recent album, Daybreak, debuted at #1 on the iTunes Jazz Chart and reflects Day’s roots in the Great American Songbook. Audiences enjoy the versatility and flexibility of his music as well as his shows that infuse elements of cabaret, storytelling, and comedy with his piano and vocals. Day was raised in the small town of Pinetop, Arizona by his mother, an accomplished music teacher and soprano vocalist. Her talent and love of music encouraged and influenced him to become the singer and musician he is today. Spencer found inspiration in the works of Cole Porter, George Gershwin, Roy Orbison, Joni Mitchell, Paul Simon and many others. These artists are the foundation of Spencer’s creative process and continue to influence his writing and performance style. “Day’s music is simply charming, from top to bottom. Where should we place him? Jazz? Pop? Crooner’s music? Which genre really does not matter.” — keysandchords.com https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3luobL2jkR8 Spencer Day Martinis Above Fourth Table + Stage #piano #voice #singing #songwriter #singersongwriter #Performance The San Diego Union-Tribune San Diego Reader SanDiego.com Visit San Diego San Diego CityBeat San Diego, California CBS 8 - San Diego News 10News – ABC San Diego KGTV NBC 7 San Diego KUSI News CW6 San Diego FOX 5 San Diego FX Networks American Horror Story: Coven San Diego Gay & Lesbian News Gay San Diego San Diego Pix The Rage Monthly Magazine San Diego Uptown News San Diego Community Newspaper Group San Diego LGBT Community Center San Diego LGBT Weekly San Diego LGBT Visitors Center
