This beach has been officially designated clothing optional since 1980. The long beach is backed by forest preserve called Foret des Saumonards. This beach is more popular than the islands' other nude beach La Grande Plage, and draws large numbers of gay men.

Ile d'Oleron, sixty kms. southwest of La Rochelle, is accessed by a long bridge fom mainland, via route D26. Once on island follow D26 northwest for 7.5 kms to round about,, exit onto D126 north towards Les Allands for 7kms. When you reach village of Boyardsville, follow signs to Point de Saumonards. There is a parking lot at end of access road. At the beach walk west (left) for 10 minutes to nude area.
