The Chautauqua Institution is a gated victorian summer town with over 7000 weekly residents from June - August. The waterfront area around the belltower and college club building is cruisy at night. This is not a good site for the casual cruiser. It costs over $50 for a day pass to the grounds. But for the gay men and daddies among the 7000 residents and visitors it is a GREAT and active spot.

located in the southwestern corner of New York State. From the New York State Thruway (Interstate 90), take exit 60, turn left onto NY-394/North Portage Street. Continue to follow NY-394.

- Hours:After dark until about 1:00 am. Take a walk along the lake. Head toward the beach and bell tower area. There is a very dark area at the top of a low hill above the beach. Plenty of guys hanging out casually, catching a smoke, looking for company. Also, the mens room in the College Club building next door to the Bell Tower can be active
- Cruising Info/ Tips:Strike up a conversation. Rub your crotch. If he is interested he will respond the same way. No one is here at this hour of night if they are not looking for some action. I have messed around right there at a picnic table, and also taken the guy back to my condo. The mens room is unlocked overnight too, but it may be more difficult to explain your presence there if security comes through. I have had some show and tell in the men's room, but nothing any heavier in there.
- Nudity / Policy:No nudity, and be cool about the activity
- Wheelchair Accessible:No / well paved paths all around the Institution. Harder to get around the hills and trails.
- Warnings:It would be great if other guys from the area could get in without paying for the gate pass. But there still seems to be plenty of easy action for those who are staying on the grounds.
