  • Hours:Sta. Cruz is a seaside village, 40 miles from Lisbon. Is a place with lots of young people, many surfers, and night time is very bubbly @ the bars in the beach. At night, if you have a car, go around and you will see lots of cruising guys by car, going up and down the road to the adjacent beaches. It is very safe. I live here and never heard of any probs at all. All times during the day, but afternoons are better. Really busy at night. People go to Alto da Vela (high point whith nice view) and stop their cars there. Sometimes at night they come out of the car touch their crotches giving you the signal. Action takes place nearby, behind close bushes and as I say it is very safe. The people who go there are middle class and never cause any trouble at all.
  • Cruising Info/ Tips:Cruising around by car is best, to the skirts of the village. action takes place near the cliffs close to the beach.
Cruisiest Spots: Alto da Vela, but sometimes, guys give you the look, and try to make you follow them to other beach spots nearby to make sure you understood the message, or otherwise, do it yourself. Make eye contact, and just to make sure, drive slowly to other nearby spot to make sure. If he is interested he follows you.
  • Wheelchair Accessible:No
  • Warnings:Sometimes at night, local police patrols the area once or twice by jeep, but even in the dark, they just pass by and never bother anyone in cars or otherwise. They just pass by (of course, make sure you are not doing anything you shouldn't. Exposing yourself in public, for example)
Warnings: There are no problems at all. I once in Peniche sand dunes, a place about 25 miles up the coast towards north, I saw a very nice guy who seemed to be British by his looks. I hooked him torwards some bushes, but as he got closer, he was affraid of going in and noticing a chap (voyeur, you get some of those too) aproaching from afar, he ran away to the beach and then into the Hotel. I still feel sorry for missing such an opportuniry to have had fun with him. He was really nice. I guess you are right in fearing what you don't know, but here there is no problem at all. Lisbon can be problematic in the ghetto areas.
