From Hilo, one would take Hwy. 11 out to Hwy. 130 (Pahoa/Keaau Bypass). Then go to mile marker 15. There's a "scenic view" area there. The steam vents are right there, just makai of the road. There are trails along the road.

  • Crowd:Mixture of people...gay, bi, curious.
  • Hours:Weekdays: 12 - 2:30 PM & 4 - 6 PM
  • Cruising Info/ Tips:Try starting up conversation.
    Cruisiest Spots: The vents to the far left are cruisiest.
  • Nudity / Policy:Yes / Just be cautious and respectful of the different groups of people that explore the vents. Families do come here from time to time, so be very discreet.
  • Wheelchair Accessible:No
  • Warnings:Beware, this is private property. Never cruise in front of families.

  • Yes, this a most "cool" spot to explore.
    BUT BE CAREFUL. Can be dangerous in that rocks are sharp and trecherous.
    right off the road, but can go nude easily all over the area, tho' few do.
    Yes a mixed group of people come here, so be polite and be caring to the land-TAKE OUT YOUR TRASH; this is not a maintained park.
    Can be very cruisy at times, but also can be a "lonely" attractive spot.
    Have seen numerous erections here, (and I do not frequent this place often) YET straights like to go play here too

  • This is one of the most intriguing and beautiful places I have been....almost other-worldly. There are several vents that locals have placed ladders down in to enter....several are more "craterlike" and are on the surface. None the less, the steam that is generated from the ground water hitting the hot volcanic rock and makes it way to the surface is relaxing and intoxicating. It is a known cruising area and both locals and tourists stop by. Not a tremendously popular spot for hooking up, but it can happen. If you don't get lucky with hooking up, you will get lucky in having visited a very unique and visually intriguing location.
