This is a public park, so there is a wide range in age. Of course, many are not cruising. May not go there to cruise, but many don't mind getting off if you talk to them awhile.

If you are heading into Punta Gorda from Port Charlotte, Retta Esplanade is the first cross street after you cross the Peace River on U.S. #41. Turn right and you cannot miss the park.
Cross street: The park sits off of Retta Esplanade, just a block from U.S. Highway 41
  • Crowd:This is a public park, so there is a wide range in age. Of course, many are not cruising. May not go there to cruise, but many don't mind getting off if you talk to them awhile.
  • Hours:The park does not close, although the later at night you get, the more apt you will be to see the police checking out the area. After dark you will also find some younger people who like to hang out there.
    Best times: Hit and miss during the day. Odds increase as the sun goes down.

  • Cruising Info/ Tips:Get there just after sunset.Talk to anyone, small talk mostly, but sure to let them know you are interested in a good night. Usually works. Hang out just outside the old bathroom, and wait.
    Cruisiest Spots: Most people take the first entrance into the park. They find a few covered picnic areas, public bathrooms, a gazebo, and plenty of tables and benches. Many a hook up starts here, although that is not my favorite. This is an old park. A few years back when they put in the new walking paths, they ignored what had been the center of the old park. They tore up the old sidewalks, but never touched the old bathroom. It is open and still works, although most people would never know it is a bathroom. Looks more like a small maintenence building. But if you hang around there, you can have some great times.
  • Nudity / Policy:You can do whatever in the bathroom, which has a lock. Been there when men were in both the male and female side. Kind of hot to hear the action on the other side.
  • Wheelchair Accessible:No
  • Warnings:To many people do not know of this older bathroom, and stay by the newer one. Hope they learn soon though.
    Warnings: Punta Gorda is a small town, and after midnight you have to be careful. Not to say that you can't have fun. Never yet seen a cop walk to the old bathroom.

  • I'll be comming to town the holiday week. Anyone actively cruising this park now? Would like to find a place in PC/PG area for good cruising. Any ideas, guys?
