Playita (Manuel Antonio Beach)

areas

Is This Your Business?

A beautiful beach in one of the region's famous national parks. This beach is an absolute must. A little further away than the regular beach, but nudity is allowed -- rare in Costa Rica. Playing in the waves is great, but you can only play in certain areas as there can be hidden rocks that you can not see. Ask locals on beach and they will tell you.
Crowd: Locals and tourists. A good mix. All seemed quite friendly.

Locals and tourists. A good mix. All seemed quite friendly.

On the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica, not far from the gay friendly town of Quepos, is this well-established nude beach actually within Manuel Antonio National Park. About 500 meters before the park entrance, you will come to Playa Espadilla near Hotel Karahe. On Playa Espadilla, walk northwest (to the right when facing the water) past the crowds and all the development. Depending on the time of year, you may have to cross a few streams. Eventually, you will come to a rocky outcropping which appears to be the end of the beach. Climb over the rocks to reach Playita. The total walk takes 20 to 30 minutes, and you'll need to wear good shoes and be in decent shape for climbing the rocks.
