Is This Your Business?

The sauna and showers can be very cruisy at times, but like any public spot it can be hit or miss. Still, I have had no fewer than 6 (wanking and/or ) encounters there, usually with students. And even if you don't hook up w/anyone, there's plenty of eye candy, especially when the Raptors soccer team has just finished a game or practice! The entry fee is $10 if you're not a student or faculty member, but ticket packages can be purchased at the front door that bring it down to $5.00/visit, and yearly memberships are available that make it even cheaper.
Crowd: It's a mix of students, college faculty, and locals of all ages.
Facilities: A full gym, with swimming pool, handball, squash, weight room, basketball courts, etc.

Neighbourhood: Annandale-on Hudson

Who's Coming

It's a mix of students, college faculty, and locals of all ages.
Facilities

From New York City, New Jersey, and points south, take the New York State Thruway to Exit 19 (Kingston), take Route 209 (changes to Route 199 at the Hudson River) over the Kingston/Rhinecliff Bridge to Route 9G. At the second light after the bridge, turn left onto Route 9G, and drive north 3.5 miles to flashing light. Turn left onto Annandale Road. At fork in road bear right and continue onto campus. Look for for the Stevenson Gymnasium on your left.
The gym is in the center of the Bard campus, right on Annandale Road; there's a parking lot across the street, and also one behind the gym.

  • Hours:Every day, until 10 or 11 PM; varies somewhat with college holidays/between semesters. At those times it's a good idea to call first.
Best times: Afternoon/evening around 4-6 PM; late night, 9-11 PM. Avoid it on Tuesday eve between 7 and 9 when the Northern Duchess Swim Club is there--unless you like a locker room full of screaming children.
  • Cruising Info/ Tips:You can see out of the sauna door, but no one can generally see in as they walk by, so it's easy to get into something and not get caught. And no one EVER patrols (like campus security).
Cruisiest Spots: The small sauna (only seats 6) in the men's locker room, which is decidedly clothing optional.
  • Wheelchair Accessible:No
  • Warnings:There's one, a fat middle-aged guy, who is often there on Wed., Thurs., and Friday nights. He's harmless, but he can be annoying, as he'll offer to rub your back and he talks too much (and sometimes, I think, scares away the young students); he spends way too much time monopolizing the sauna.
Warnings: Make sure you bring a padlock or combination lock for your locker. Stuff has been stolen out of lockers at times. Also, beware of the age of cruisers--on two occasions I had high school minors coming on to me; I politely declined one who actually admitted to being 13.

whos coming to Bard College Stevenson Gym

  • It's a great spot from 2-4 seems to be very busy. I've gotten a few BJ's there. It's still very active with students and staff but usually always a few guys to look at and hook up with.
