Aire De Hil

Traveling north on the E3 (N137) from Nantes to Rennes, just about one mile before Rennes, exit into the "Aire De Hil" rest stop. As far as I can see from google earth and autoroute, there is no way to access the site if traveling south - sorry. As you exit the road goes round in a big loop so you're facing the way you came - pass the refreshments hut and toilet block on your left and park up in the layby on your right. There will be a truck park on your left at this point. If you happen to be driving a truck, follow the signs for truck parking instead! The wooded strip in front of you between the rest area and the autoroute - shielded from the autoroute by a bit of an embankment - seems to attract truckers, bikers and other passers by with on their minds...

• Hours:Not known, sorry. It was quite busy mid-afternoon one Saturday last June though!
• Cruising Info/ Tips:Park up and watch who's going in and out of the wooded strip between the parking area and the autoroute. Honestly, I only stopped here to get petrol - but it turned out this "Aire" is just a rest stop and has no fuel station. I was tempted by an ice cream instead and it was only while eating that before getting back on my bike that I noticed a number of men wandering back and forth between the truck park and the woods. It would have been rude not to investigate further... I'm glad I did!
• Nudity / Policy:Nudity would probably be inappropriate, you're not far at all from the autoroute and the parking area.
• Wheelchair Accessible:No / Poor access - there is a small ditch to cross and there are uneven and narrow paths to negotiate.
• Warnings:This spot is on the edge of a rest area used by straight truckers, families, etc. Be discreet and tactful - don't spoil it for others, please.
