This westward facing beach is located in a forest preserve called Foret de la Couble. This ten plus kilometer beach is called the La Cote Sauvage. Several kilometers of beach at the north end has been officially designated clothing optional since 1977. This is probably the most popular nude beach for gay men in the area. Swimming should oocur only at the south end as currents at the north end are very dangerous.

Starting from the large town of Royan, head northwest on D25 for 20 kms. or so, near the La Coubre lighthouse, then about 3.5 kms north to large La Bouverie parking lot (at turnoff for D268. Park and walk long track to beach. At the beach walk north (right facing the water) about 1 km. to officially designated nude area.
