A689 Sedgefield layby (SandyBak)

This is a fairly long layby screened from the road by a band of bushes and trees. I believe it was actually part of the old road before they improved the A689. It is on the main (and only)route used by guys who are cruising between the Rushyford layby and the 2 cruising areas on the A177. Plenty of passing trade. Unlike the other sites this appears to see little action during the working week but seems quite busy at night and weekends. I found it quite by accident and have since then visited twice and met someone on both occasions. I am a bit surprised it hasn't been posted before now.

From Junction 60 of A1M go east on A689 for 2 miles. Just before you come to the dual carriageway before A689/A177 roundabout there is a long layby on the left below the A689. This is the old road and is known locally as Long Bak.
It is used by truckers during the day and has a snack bar resident most of the weekdays but which leaves around 4.30pm.

previous comment: Late afternoons and evenings and weekends. After the Snack bar has gone. - Cruising Info/ Tips:As usual. Look at other guys, smile, tap brakes etc. Go into the bushes to pee and make sure that you shake it well!
Cruisiest Spots: Middle of the layby. Where the bushes are thickest to screen you from the main road. - Wheelchair Accessible:No
