Rte 27 Sunrise Rest Area

areas

Is This Your Business?

Rest areas on both eastbound and westbound sides. Extremely dark, so at night it's possible to stand outside of your car and have fun. If you are in your car, unless someone shines a light directly on you, it's impossible to see what you're doing, even if someone walked right up to the car. Have seen some group action outside of the cars. The westbound side is better for more warning time from approaching cars.
Crowd: Standard rest area cruisers

Neighbourhood: Hampton Bays

  • Directions:Take the Sunrise Hwy (Rte 27) east or west. Rest area between Exits 65 & 66
    Cross street: Sunrise Hwy
  • Hours:24/7
Best times: After dark (for cover)
  • Cruising Info/ Tips:None yet, but would definetly welcome some.
  • Wheelchair Accessible:No
  • Warnings:Ironically, one of the things that makes this place cool is also a pet peeve. The fact that it is SO dark virtually eliminates any cruising done within cars. Unless the person either steps out of their car, there is no way you'd be able to see them. Limited, though some, room for trucks.
Warnings: Was there for a few hours on a Friday night during the summer and didn't see one police car even pass, though I suppose it's possible.
