College Cove

Is This Your Business?

College Cove is part of Trinidad State Beach. The parking area described above is 3/4 mile north of the area used by clothed sun bathers. College Cove has north and south sections of nude sun bathing. The northern trail offers much easier access to the beach. College Cove south can be accessed by walking along the beach at low tide. The scenery is spectacular but the water is too cold for swimming except for the very brave.
Crowd: Lots of college age singles.

Who's Coming

Lots of college age singles.

From Arcata drive 15 miles north on US 101 and take the Trinidad exit. Drive west until you intersect with Stagecoach Road, turn right on the latter and proceed for less than a mile to a dirt parking area on the left. (If you pass Abalone Beach or Sea Cliff Camp you have gone too far). Follow the trail which begins in the south end of the parking area to the beach, a 10 minute walk.

whos coming to College Cove
  • I was there once in 2006. Beach in summer is not crowded and is fairly secluded. Actually I was there twice I believe. Never hit me as anything but kinda the run of the mill beach people wise, although it is completely clothing optional. It's pretty wide open too with nowhere to kinda get out of view of others. It's like one big cove of sand,no rocks or vegetation to walk into, as it is off a cliff that you hike down to. Anyone have any sort of updated information?

  • Lot's of cars are broken into here. Surfers/beach combers often report breakins to local police/hiway patrol. Lock valuebles in truck out of sight. Some even leave cars unlocked so their windows/doors won't be broken.

Still, this is a great area to sunbath and watch people/marine life.

  • Wind protected and secluded, perfect for au natural tanning. Quiet and private, rarely a dozen bathers to share your "paradise" with.
