Is This Your Business?

All types of people come here, young and old. If you happen to see anyone you like, do not be shy. Locals are happy to talk with foreigners; but a little Spanish goes a long way here. A small reminder, do not attempt to bring Cubans back to your resort as security guards do check each and every visitor 24 hrs a day (Cubans are not allowed in any resorts). There is this daytime market across from the Central Park area (a few blocks from the 24 Hr place) which has a lot of quiet dark corners.
Crowd: Local Cubans, hot latinos and blacks, young or old (some tourists here and there)

Neighbourhood: Central Varadero

  • 43rd Street
  • in Varadero and he will take you there. It is right on the intersection of 43rd Ave and the Main Street; a 24 Hr place
Cross street: 43rd Ave and Main Street
  • Hours:Late afternoon and onwards, actions can be found as late (early) as 4am any night or the day
  • Cruising Info/ Tips:Use your natural gaydar here; frequent by young gay local Cubans who are usually better dressed and more flamboyant
Cruisiest Spots: Try to seat with bright lighting facing the Main Street; sometimes seats along the 43rd Ave alley seem a bit too dark. Also try seating in the pizza place as well
  • Wheelchair Accessible:No
  • Warnings:Prepare to be asked to pay for (USD$20-$40) from time to time by those straight latinos who do not mind to be off or even your head out.
Warnings: As in any barely surviving communist state, Cubans make only about US$300-$400 a month. While 60% of things are supplied free by the government, the rest has to be purchased at US$ stores at First-World market price (US$1 for Creat toothpaste). So before heading to Cuba, it maybe wise to stock up with some toothpaste, soap or even a t-shirt or two to give to your new Cuban friends. They sure would appreciate anything from us. Last but not least, if you speak no Spanish, it maybe helpful to buy a Spanish phrase book or dictionary for communication purposes. The dictionary will make a perfect gift at the end of the trip as well.
