Secluded, quiet, private unless passing boats come in close to shore line. Blackgang Beach is the only nudist beach on the Isle of Wight. There are ferries to the island from Yarmouth and Southhampton, but the shortest ride is from Portsmouth.

The shortest ferry connection to the Isle is from Portsmouth to Ryde. From Ryde take route A3055 along the western side of the island about 16 miles. Just before village of Niton, turn right at the signs for St. Catherine's Lighthouse. There is free parking area at the end of the road that goes by Knowles Farm. A path leads down to the beach from the parking area. A steep, 10 minutes climb brings you to the beach, walk west around a headland called Rocken End.
