Flying J Travel Plaza
This is a new place and is very very busy. It seems to have taken a lot of the traffic from the Husky station further up the road. Every truck on the transcanada drives by here, since you get all the traffic from the city, the North Perimeter, and the South Perimeter join up here. It seems to be the stop of choice these days for both eastbound and westbound truckers.
Large lot, well lit, but not too much so.
Crowd: Truckers, truckers, truckers!
Neighbourhood: Just on the western edge of Winnipeg on the Trans Canada Highway

Take Portage Avenue west and pass the Perimeter Highway. Continue for a half mile - maybe less - into Headingly. The Plaza is on the south side of the highway. It's pretty hard to miss!

- Hours:There is activity there around the clock, but of course some times are more active than others.
Best times: Truckers usually start pulling in during the late afternoon. The lot can be absolutely packed by the time evening rolls around. Evening and night time is the best, but not the only times, for a hookup. - Cruising Info/ Tips:The Plaza is conveniently designed with two parking lots - one for cars and RVs in front and the other in back is for trucks. Both are accessible by a long narrow roadway. Park on this near the truck entrance or at the truck entrance itself, and it is hard not to make eye contact with incoming truckers. Also try driving around the truck parking lot slowly -since it is truck parking only, a car slowly cruising around gets noticed, and there is probably little doubt as to what you are there for. Of course, you can also park in the car parking lot in front and walk around the truck lot in back.
Watch for signs such as a flash of the truck parking lights or a spotling at night. During the day it is easier to see each other, so watch for a wave or smile or other sort of invitation from the driver. Some can be quite forward, and others are more subtle, but you'll see the signs.
Cruisiest Spots: The truck parking lot at the back. You will not likely find any action in the vehicle or RV parking lot in front. In fact, during the day that lot is full of tourists and families, so stay away from there! Concentrate on the truck lot instead. - Wheelchair Accessible:No
- Warnings:Headingly cops are all over that stretch of highway from the perimeter to the weigh stations further west, and they cruise through the lot now and then. Nothing to worry about, but you need to be aware, that's all.

was there earlier tonight...a smorg of truckers but no one interested...drove around in the semi parking and no indication of interest...are there certain signs or codes you have to know or should i be in the other parking area? help
