Is This Your Business?

This is part of the Newport News Park System, but actually located in York County. This is a small park that offers fishing and several bike paths. The park also has several shelters that run along the reservoir. The last 2 shelters are pretty well sheilded from the road/parking lot and you can get pleanty of notice when someone is approaching.

Neighbourhood: Hardwood Mills

It is on Oriana Rd, between Rt 17 (G Washington Memorial Hwy) and Denbigh Blvd. Coming off of Denbigh Blvd - you turn onto Old Denbigh Blvd - the name changes to Oriana once you cross the city/county line. The parking lot is on your left coming from Rt 17 as soon as you cross the bridge, and on the right coming from Denbigh Blvd.

  • Hours:M-F around lunch times and again from 3 till 6. Summer times maybe a little difficult in the later hours as the fishing season kicks up.
  • Cruising Info/ Tips:Park in the parking lot, and walk towards the shelters. Any one looking usually hangs out in the parking lot near the boat launch or along the water's edge near the shelters. The last 2 shelters offer the best place to play. Tables to play on. Far enough off the road/parking lot to see who is coming and pleanty of time to cover up. The bike paths - which are just across the street from the parking lot - offers a few nice spots - but you have to keep an eye out for bikers.
  • Nudity / Policy:No nudity
  • Wheelchair Accessible:No / There is parking for handicap - but the trails/paths are not handicap friendly
  • Warnings:Just use common sense and keep an eye out - especially on the bike paths. Haven't really seen any rangers/police/sherriff deupties out.
