Maksimir Park

Take any tram to Dubec, Dubrava, or Maksimir (numbers 4, 5, 7, 11 and 12) and get off at the Bukovacka tram stop (also known simply as Maksimir). The park is across the road.

The park is quite large and if you are for the first time here, it can be a little difficult to find the exact gay cruising spot, which is in the south-west part of the park. Perharps the easyest way to find it is from Bukovacka street. Walk down the Bukovacka street and look to your right side. You will pass by a gas station and then by a modern-style yellow church. After the church, there is a small parking place for taxi cars. There you should turn right and enter the park. Go across the open area, into the woods, into the dark. Gay cruising area begins here and it extends, roughly speaking, to all the area you can reach from here without crossing under lamps and without going out to the open meadows.

  Best times: after dark, in winter till about 11 PM, in summer even until after midnight.

• Warnings:The place can be very dark (and even somewhat scary), but in my experience it is generally safe. However, few years ago there were some unverified third-hand reports about incidents, so I would suggest using some common sense (avoid large and loud groups).
  
  From time to time an occasional unsuspecting straight couple sits on some bench and kisses. Just pass by them and avoid that part of the area untill they leave.
  
  Don't worry about the guy on the motorcycle. He's keaper and he will not bother you (just don't be too obvious).
