Is This Your Business?

NOTICE: In North Carolina, bars without food are "private clubs", so you have to sign in! If you aren't a member, (and let's face it, who is?) you just sign in as a guest. And I'm not saying you have to sign your own name, but if there was a discrepancy, who could prove you weren't Mick E. Maus, right?

whos coming to Smokey's

  • I just moved to Asheville and have been to all the gay bars in Asheville. I have to say that Smokey's is one of my favorites. They play good music, drinks were very strong to my liking and the bartenders were very nice and hot. Was a little leary of the window in the bathroom door but after the bartender explained I understood why they had windows.

  • I don't see how this place stays in business. I rarely see more than 4 or 5 people in there. Bartenders are usually friendly and an OK place to chat, but the place is a dive ...needs to be renovated! Have noticed a couple of 'just out of the closet' guys there. Guessing it's the only gay bar they know about. I'd rather go to O'Henry's and/or LaRue's.

  • I visited Asheville in March, and fell in love with this place! Very pleasant and friendly employees, and a base of customers that are friendly and willing to smile! Also it is possible to carry on a conversation with someone here - music is not unreasonably loud as it is in so many gay clubs.
