Mexico Gravel Lake is a small lake very close to the 3M plant in the liberal college town of Columbia. The lake has a history of nude use, mostly by gay men. Please remove any litter you make or find.

From I-70 in Columbia take exit 128A for US 63 northbound, continue 1.5 miles to 1st exit, where you will turn right onto Paris Rd. Proceed 1.8 miles then turn right onto Waco Rd. for .4 mile to dead end, park take path into brushy cover which leads to the lake.

  • Hi guys, I visited this beach a couple of years ago and had great fun, but the most recent comments give me pause. Can anyone tell me if this place is still cool and still active. You can email me here at cruise if you like. thanks!

  • Having moved back to St. Louis and having spent at least a dozen times at the beach, I'll outline a few things.

One, Waco Road is NOT privately owned. It is a a city maintained street. Unless they have posted no parking signs, there is nothing they can do about anyone parking there.

As for it being private property and who the owner of it is, I don't know. It's not hard to find if you live in town, go down to the courthouse and look up the deed.

The police can walk on the property but can take no action against someone without probable cause. If they see cars parked around the circle, they have probable cause figuring there is probability that the driver of one of those cars is on the property itself.

As for them throwing people off the property, if you are not one of the owners of the property OR if the owner of the property is not present while you are there, they can force you to leave.

I hate to see and hear that there is police presence there. But unless the owners are there in person to tell people it's ok for any of us to be there, then we are at risk for meeting police at nearly anytime.

  • I spoke with someone who knows the owners who live in California and they don't care who goes down there as long as they don't trash the place. The problem with this is that the road that leads to it is known as a private turn around for the trucks that deliver to the establishments there on. If there were another way to access the property CPD has no right to tell people to leave the property. But I imagine they have a response for that one too.

  • ALERT ALERT ALERT.. on Saturday, July 1 2006, 3 of Columbia's boys in blue walked down to the beach, stated that it had changed owners, was now private property, and that anybody going down there would be subject to arrest.

  • I haven't been there yet this spring but I did notice peeps still fishing there. I'm not sure but I think it is roped off so no vehicles go down there, but not certain. Curious myself, I don't want to loose my nude beach

  • Anybody been there recently and seen wire ropes with yellow warning signs at entrance? If so, is this hot place now off-limits?
