This park was closed for almost 10 years and has only recently been reopened. It is a nice, woodsy setting.

I-55 south frontage road between Savannah street and Elton Road Exits.
Cross street: I-55 South Frontage Road, South of Savannah Street Exit
  • Crowd:All sorts.
  • Hours:Daylight to dark.
    Best times: Lunch, after 3:00 and weekends.
  • Cruising Info/ Tips:Fairly standard park cruising. If someone is clearly not interested, please leave them alone.
    Cruisiest Spots: Back of park, Missionary Hill in particular (we used to call it "missionary hill" because back in the 80s, a religious nut would always show up there alternately trying to convert and/or seduce you).
  • Wheelchair Accessible:No
  • Warnings:There is no permament staff but the city has a crew out once a week.
    Warnings: The park is occasionaly cruised by Jackson police. The sheriffs dept won't come there unless they get complaints. Don't give them any.

  • Hey guys,

    WARNING - I've received a report that there has been recent police activity at this location. A cruiser reported that on 6-10-2009 the police came in checking for identification and pulling people to the side that must have had warrants, etc. under their name.

    Please cruise carefully, and post what you know onto the listing.

  • Just got back from the park. Had a very good time. Early mornings is always good, just don't get to visit as often as I would like. Thanks to the man who made my day.

  • Be on the look out for black man in a small 4 door white car. He pulled a gun and tried to rob a person today in the park. It didn't work for him. He has done it before an probably will do it again. Tag is hinds county ending with 262.
