Gay neighbourhoods: the Fruit Loop and downtown

The Fruit Loop is centred on Paradise Road at East Naples Drive, about a mile east of the Strip and a quarter-mile from Harry Reid International Airport. Venues extend one block south to East Twain Avenue and several blocks east to East Flamingo Road.

The name was once an insult aimed at queer people and is now used positively. On May 22, 2025, the Nevada Legislature passed Senate Concurrent Resolution 2, which designates the area as a historical landmark.

On East Twain Avenue, Flex Cocktail Lounge (501 East Twain) is a 24-hour bar with karaoke, and Fun Hog Ranch (495 East Twain) is a dive bar with pool and darts. On East Flamingo Road, The Garage (1487 East Flamingo Road) is a neighbourhood bar with an outdoor patio, pool tables and dart boards.

Downtown, the Arts District is the city's queer-friendly creative hub. The free Downtown Loop shuttle serves downtown, including the Arts District and Fremont Street Experience.

Law and safety for LGBTQ+ visitors

Same-sex sexual activity was decriminalised in 1993, and since October 1, 2011 state law bans discrimination on sexual orientation and gender identity or expression in employment, housing and public accommodations. Employment protection for sexual orientation dates from 1999.

The state's hate crime law covers sexual orientation (since 2001) and gender identity or expression (since 2013). Same-sex marriage became legal in 2014 after a Ninth Circuit ruling, and in 2020 Nevada voters approved Question 2, making Nevada the first state to put same-sex couples' right to marry in its constitution.

In July 2024, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police officers met LGBTQ+ community members at the Center, a community centre; Sheriff Kevin McMahill called the meeting a listening tour.
