This is a picnic area with restrooms, wooded trails & a big parking area. Activity is possible in the restroom, in the parking lot at times, & on the wooded trails. Usually around lunchtime until dark is the best time. The parking area across the dam can be active too. (you get to that by turning at the Visitors Center sign on Falls of Neuse Road & going across the dam.)

This area is below the Falls Lake Dam. Take Falls of Neuse Road from I-540 toward Wake Forest. After a couple miles the road becomes 2 lanes, and you'll go past the entrance to the Falls Dam Visitors Center. The road will start going down towards the Neuse River & just before the bridge over the river there is a road to the left. Turn left & pass below the canoe rental place to the parking area. There are restrooms, picnic areas, & wooded trails. The name of the road you turn left on is Pleasant Union Church Road.
  • Hours:Usually after lunch until dark is best. Weekdays are better than weekends when it tends to be too busy.
  • Cruising Info/ Tips:Just be discreet. I've never seen any trouble, other than the occasional park ranger but they don't seem to bother anyone.
  • Nudity / Sexual Policy:I have seen nudity on the trails & in the restroom. Sometimes the kayakers change in the parking lot or restroom & don't care who sees.
  • Wheelchair Accessible:No / Access is available to the picnic area & restrooms.
  • Warnings:It can be too busy at times.
