cruiser update 7/22/2008: The Coachman is no more...it was sold about 4 years ago..It is now called TUMMY's. The new ower changed it into a straight bar...The all grl bartender now are required to dance on the bar that also has poles installed

previous comment: The bar offers 2 pool tables and some video games. DJ every Friday and Saturday night starting at 10 pm.
Karaoke on Friday nights starting around 11:00 pm. Small dance floor. There is an occasional drag show featured for your entertainment. Update: The new cover charge
on show nights is $5.00.
Crowd: Gay-bi-straight men and women.

Downtown Richmond on main Street between south 9 & 10 streets. Parking is in the rear and so is the back entrance. Usually the front door is locked due to high traffic volume on main street. Entrance is at the rear of the bar.

  • Hours:Mon-Thurs, 7 pm till ?; Fri & Sat 7 pm till 3 am.
    Best times: After 11 pm, it's a late night bar.
    Dates open: Mon-Thurs, 7 pm till ?; Fri & Sat 7 pm till 3 am.
  • Cruising Info/ Tips:Watch for cops.
    Cruisiest Spots: In the back alley behind the bar. More or less just come in and join the fun and meet new friends and possibly more.
  • Wheelchair Accessible:Yes / Bathrooms equiped for handicaps
  • Warnings:One of the bartenders and the DJ are prejudiced against lesbians to a certain extent. So on Mon-Wed-Fri ask for Floyd, he is the best bartender.

  • It's true the coachman is now called Tummy's. It's a hetro bar based after Coyote Ugly, or tries to be.

    Several cruisers have commented this place has changed ownership and is no longer a gay bar. Please let other guys know what you know by posting comments.

  • Change of ownership. No longer gay. One bad bashing there. Not safe.

  • The owner of the Coachman has made a few changes to the bar. The dance floor and DJ booth has been moved to the other side of the bar. One pool table was removed for the dance floor area. The above mentioned DJ and bartender were fired from there positions on May 12. The new Cover charge on show nights is $5.00.
