  • As a visitor to SFO from oversea, I thought I will try this place out even though I have read of so many complaints here. I was there a few weeks ago and it was lunch time on a Friday. I thought the staff behind the counter was not very polite to begin with. Nontheless, since I was already there I might as well go downstair and had a look. To my disappointment there was only one old guy there. I probably only stayed for 15 minutes and left. Before I left the place, I went to the counter to buy a bottle of popper. The guy was actually quite rude and his manner very cold. I will definitely not come back again and will not recommend it to anyone. Waste of time and money. The staff customer orientation is also very poor. I wouldn't even give this place a 1 star rating !

  • wow, lots of complaints. I DON'T AGREE. It's clean. There is no cover to enter the booth area downstairs. It's clean. THere is a bathroom (with a door). All of these are great features. Other bookstores do not compare. Most other places are dark, dirty, charge 5-10 bucks to get in. Most don't have bathrooms available - either at all, or the the two places on Folsom don't have a door on the bathroom.

Yes, staff comes around every 10-20 minutes asking you to go into a booth and insert a dollar. I'd rather have them do this then have drunk/drugging/homeless guys loitering or just sitting in a booth and tying it up.

What exactly are people expecting? The Four Seasons? IT seems like there is some sense of entitlement that no one can infringe on ones' "right" to cruise for free in a business. I'd personally much rather go here than to a park or an office building. Does any remember the Russ building? Its the same type of people who are bitching and moaning that ruined that very popular cruising spot.

So, to summarize, If you like a well lit, clean facility with a bathroom and drinking fountain, just steps away from the center of the tourist and shopping centre of town, than this is a GREAT place. If you don't, then try someplace else.

  • This place is a RIP-OFF!!!!!! Unless you are into being pestered by pushy staff, who patrol the place , telling you over & over to feed the arcade machines and the rest of the place is just lame. The crowd that cruises there are bored and boring or tweeked hustlers, its too bad this place used to be fun.

  • Spoke to the attendant briefly on my way in and didn't seem to be as bad as made out by earlier posters. There were only about three booths occupied, and one other guy floating around the hallways.

It seemed well lit and clean enough, the only sad thing is that you need to take your own tissues. They provide one large bin outside the booths, but nothing to clean up with. Bizzarre - what do they think people are going to use?

Glory-hole booths are well marked with signs on the door, which was helpful.

  • What am I doing here is usually what I think when I walk around in circles downstairs in the video booth area -- at least it's free, and comparably clean, but almost always basically empty -- maybe four guys -- or when it is crowded, everyone walks around like they're angry at you for even looking at them, my least favorite thing is when there's someone I've seen there 10 times and I say hi and he looks away like I just hit him -- once in a while I actually have fun, and then that'll get me there another 10 times of walking around in circles, at least it's close to my house and the walk back home late at night is relaxing with the air all fresh and clear...

  • too much bitching. Clean arcade. well lit, so you don't get any homeless or drug addicts like most of the downtown bookstores and theaters. Gee, they want you to keep feeding the machines. Yes, they are a business. You can choose to go to other bookstores and pay the $10 cover, and then no one will bother you. But it will be dark, sleazy, and you'll see people bb-ing. As for the go-go dancers -not my scene, so I can't comment. But I think you can't beat the overall deal in their downstairs arcade. I like it and I like the other ones. If it's not your thing, so be it.

  • Guys....this place has been living on it's past reputation for years.....the staff are rude, the strip show sucks and there are only four booths, two glory holes, in the place....and those have signs that WARN you that you MUST put money in the machine to stay in the booth.....for a flat fee of $10 Folsom Gultch is a much better deal...all booths have huge glory holes, nobody gives a damn what you're doing and you can stay as long as you like.........
