Park by day, great cruise spot during the late afternoon, and well into the evening.... Stay in the park after dark, or you can always walk the river trail from here all the way north to the Hwy 1/17 bridge (2nd. bridge heading N. the first is Water, away from the ocean).

Neighbourhood: Near Downtown

Park is on Dakota.Take a right off of Ocean or a left off of Soquel. The trail is accessed by turning right on every other street from the top of Ocean to Dakota Ave. (except for Water St) Trail also accessed from the park.
  • Hours:Cruising is fine when the sun is up, just be careful about where you go to hook up.
After dusk, all is fine, just watch your back for homeless and normals just using the area
  • Cruising Info/ Tips:The bush areas on the south end of the park are great for some undercover adventures. During the day the playground near here is full of families, so best not to cruise at these times. The restroom closes at dark, but can also be a sneaky quick getaway. The actual park is "supposed" to be closed after dark, but after the initial patrol, most action will go unnoticed. Cruising happens in the park grounds or on the levee walk. The action, off in the bushes, or down on the walk exits.
The bushes by the levee, at night, are a perfect place to have someone cruising you follow, and if braving the bushes alone be careful for the homeless. Further north of the trail, some homeless camp. They're usually harmless, but stumbling on a group could leave you outnumbered. (they might be and ready as well) Near the bridge, near the end of the trail, (heading N. towards the hwy. bridge) are some trail exits that lead to residential areas....
After dark, the two closest to the bridge are rarely used and at the bottom have access to more covered bush areas... these are the best for a quick bj from or for a passerby, maybe even more. All walks cruise here, mainly people that use the park to get to their homes, mainly students, latinos, and some , young homeless. I've definately caught people under the bridges having a load of fun.
I've seen straight action here as well.
  • Nudity / Policy:The area is a public park, and it does border the county courthouse and jail.
Because of this, it actually isn't that well watched over, but public is illegal.... duh....
SC County is usually passive if you're not right out in the open, no arrests made here
  • Wheelchair Accessible:No / Handicap access on the trail, but not really in the "hook-up" spots
  • Warnings:Alot of families and trail users during the day, but at dusk not so much.
Homeless do sometimes camp, but you almost always can hear them.
The north side of the trail has some illegal activity at night due to the underlying neighborhood, but these guys sometimes want to hook up too.
Cops patrol during the dusk hours once to clear out the park, but rarely patrol the River Walk esp. after the sun sets.
