Park is very cruisy. Police do patrol, so
probably safest after dark. Several bars
and restaurants in the vicinity, which
provide the late night crowd. After the
park closes, guys cruise in parking lot
close to Hooters and Remingtons. Action
on site and taken elsewhere.

Take I471 North to the last exit (Route 8, Newport/Bellevue), turn left at the light and turn right at RiverBoat Row. James Taylor Park is approximately half a mile down river. The park is behind the flood wall on the Newport side of the river.

  • Warnings:update 5/20/2009: In this Park, the Newport Police are patroling it more and more. They have been know to harass you even if you are in your car and just talking to another person in another car. Must be very careful, undercover officers also show up.

  • It has slowed down alot since the Levee was built. Still, it is a place where a hookup can happen. I agree the area by the shelter is the best area. A LOT OF BRAKE TAPPING IN THIS AREA.

  • This died a long time ago after the building of the Levee Complex. Cruising does occur, and hookups are much less. Although people do go down after dark, cops will ask you to leave. If you bring a camera and are taking pix of skyline ... cops are much more friendly about that. Most park down toward the end with the shelter. Some sit in shelter or down out of site along the river. Very hit or miss though. Still the occasional hustler too.
