Earl Gilbert Park

areas

Is This Your Business?

This is a park area/parking lot situated within a residential area: houses & apts. before park, apartment buildings at end of park.
Crowd: Fishermen, some families (mostly on weekends), couples. CRUISERS - Mixed: hot older guys, hot younger guys, trolls, younger types, some military.

Neighbourhood: Long Point, before Tyndall AFB

Who's Coming

Fishermen, some families (mostly on weekends), couples. CRUISERS - Mixed

Oakshore Drive. Take 98-E/Tyndall Parkway thru Parker; just before Dupont Bridge, to the left, is an abandoned gas station. Make LEFT turn there, then RIGHT, follow road to park area.
Cross street: just before Dupont Bridge to TAFB
  • Crowd:Fishermen, some families (mostly on weekends), couples. CRUISERS - Mixed: hot older guys, hot younger guys, trolls, younger types, some military.
  • Hours:Park open DAWN til 11pm. Cops DO patrol starting at 11pm and WILL ask you to leave.
Best times: 10am thru lunch; after dusk til closing.
  • Cruising Info/ Tips:First pull-off area has portable toilet with glory hole - if you might be interested in someone there, stick finger (or anything else) thru hole a few times. Get out of car, sit on tables or benches, stretch your legs, try to make contact, even if it's just to say 'how you doin'.
Cruisiest Spots: First pull-off area, to the left as you enter park area proper; parking lot at end of park; dirt road thru trees to the RIGHT as you enter park. If no one is using the pier to fish, you can go to the end of it at night to take care of business.
  • Wheelchair Accessible:No
  • Warnings:Not as many military guys as I'd like (at least while I've been there). Woods past the dirt road are the only place to play unseen; otherwise, you either do it in someone's car or take it elsewhere (preferred since there IS local traffic to and from the apartments). There's at least one guy who lives down road to the park who walks thru the park several times per day and he is either himself cruising or might be a self-appointed 'neighborhood watch'.
Warnings: Cops patrol once in a while but don't seem to stop and loiter behind cars as they do at Carl Grey Park; however, they DO check the dirt road mentioned every once in a while.

  • 07/08/2006 Update

    > Wooded area to the right as you drive in is pretty much gone. Construction in progress and any secluded area has been bulldozed.
    > Best potential cruising area appears to be at the end of the drive (past the "rest area" type park) in and around the boat ramp parking area and under the bridge.
