43commentsSycamore Creek has several natural pools used for skinny-dipping. The area attracts mostly men and has a strong gay presence. Crowds can range from just a feww or zero during the week to twenty on peak weekends. The creek gets peak use during spring and fall since it is iften dry in summer. Usually the little water left in the pools in summer is stagnant. Nude swimming and sunbathing are quite common here, but non-nudists sometimes show up too. The canyon is often cruisy. Be sure you take plenty of drinking water with you; it gets extremely hot here. The site is about an hour from Phoenix. 12/16/04

Where exactly
From Phoenix take US-60 east to exit 179, then north on SR-87, continue 23 miles past junction Shea Blvd. & Fountain Hills. At mile post 212, after crossing a bridge, make a right onto a dirt road, proceed over low concrete bridge, take left fork of 'Y' & over another concrete bridge. Park & take worn path uphill, at top turn right for a few minutes to the pools.

I know that the area was temporarily closed because of the recent fire, but according to the forest service all the closures for the area have been lifted. I'm just wondering if anyone can confirm this. It's a great area and definitely one of my favorite areas. Thanks

desertplaything, I completely agree with you. The stalkers are creepy. It doesnt take long to figure out who wants to have fun and who wants too hide and watch! I consider it rude when they do that. A friendly greeting goes a long ways toward getting together.

Went out Friday and there were a couple guys there but??? One of them drove 30 miles to just sit in his car then follow you around and park and try and watch you....then just up and leave....Hint to all that go ....if a guy is walking around in a pair of sexxy tight undies oiled up....he wants to have fun not stalk each other like a cat and a mouse...if im wrong let me know kinda new to this...

Went out there this afternoon. Still one guy camping there in a trailer, the same one I encountered last week. No sheep and no sign of anyone else out there.

Went out there this morning and there were grazing sheep everywhere along with several separate groups of transients who have seemingly made permanent camp. It didn't look safe to stay around, so if you go be safe.
