This nude beach has been officially sanctioned clothing optional since 1985. Nudity is not permitted with 200 meters of the parking lot (in either direction). This beach is large and un-developed and so never seems crowded. It draws a mix of straight couples and gay men.

Where exactly

The town of La Barre-de-Monts is on the Atlantic coast southwest of the city of Nantes. From La Barre-de-Monts head south on D38 a few kms. then turn right into park (Foret des Pays de Monts)and find the Les Lays parking lot, which accesses the middle of the beach.;
