McKee Park is a small park and beach located just west of the Ambassador Bridge on the Detroit River. Park includes a boat launch, boardwalk, large parking lot, and a number of dark, secluded areas to have fun in. Dim lighting makes this a great spot to park or go for a stroll.

Neighbourhood: Sandwhich Town

From the West, take Sandwhich Street to Chewett Street. The parking lot entrance is located at the north end of Chewett. From the East, take either Riverside Drive W or University Ave. W (which merge into Sandwhich Street just after crossing under the Ambassador Bridge). Take Sandwhich Street to Chewett (very, very short drive following the merge). The parking lot entrance is located at the north end of Chewett.
  • Hours:The park is often busy with ordinary users during the day, however after dark cruising really takes off. Peak hours are from 10:00pm to 2:00am every night of the week. Weekends are more busy of course.
  • Cruising Info/ Tips:Park your vehicle and use the typical signs - flashing lights - or take a stroll down on the boardwalk and through the park's many paths. It is recommended and much quicker to leave your vehicle and walk around. With a complete lack of lighting, there are many darkened areas in which one can duck into for some outdoor fun.
  • Nudity / Policy:Nudity is not allowed - this is a public park. If going nude, use extreme caution.
  • Wheelchair Accessible:No / Park is handicap accessible - the boardwalk and all paths are physically navigable. With very few lights in the park, there may be some concern about navigating the rougher paths at night.
  • Warnings:Some ordinary people use the park after dark, but this is usually very limited. People will sometimes sit on the ends of the docks late at night. Use the caution and common sense attributed to public parks. The police do pull into the parking lot infrequently, however this has never been a problem nor have they ever stayed longer than a matter of seconds.
