24/7 Late at night and Sunday afternoons.
Etiquette
To get a room, better to go before midnight, weekends usually a waiting list. Busy from 4-10, most nights. Chalkboards in both bathrooms make for nice ad's... Lot's of action in hallways leave door open and the parade will pass by to have a look. Bottoms usually on stomach with legs spread & door open. If you are patient you almost always will have a good time.

Jason_Indy, there is free parkingn on Belmont, just east of halsted, on the street, i usually find a spot there if i circle a few times, but best spot if u do not mind paying a lot is the parking garage mentioned by bigben.

Jason_indy : I am not from the area either, but am wondering if it would be easier to park at another location that is close to another Red line station? Transit is the way I am planning to get there since I am staying near Grant Park. Check out the route and see if there is anyplace that is convenient to the direction that you are coming from where there is free parking.

Jason, there is an indoor pay lot on the west side of the street in like the next building to the south of Steamworks. That is where I always park just because I do not want to hassle with finding a spot.

I'm going to be there next week--evening of June 11. Maybe it's best to wait until 9 pm and find a place on the street? I did that once and got lucky, ending up in the block right in front of it. I dunno. I don't remember the train being close by...

I've been to Steam Works a few times over the years. Always a good time. My question is, where are you supposed to park? Street parking isn't free until after 9 pm, the free parking lot up a block at the shopping center closes early like 10 pm or something, street parking everywhere requires a neighborhood sticker, etc. Once I parked several blocks away at the hospital garage but same problem, trying to get out of it late at night. Please...locals...spill it. Where's the best place for parking for us out of towners that don't know?

Spent last Fri late night and this afternoon (Wed)- both times just brimming with friendly men. What a great facility, nice staff and did I say friendly men? all ages, so little attitude, something for everyone. Look fwd to visiting Chicago again.

Steamworks is a great facility; but, with several shower areas, plentiful hot water and soap, not to mention complimentary mouthwash, why do so many guys have such poor hygiene? Also, why is "no" perceived as "just be persistent and you'll eventually wear me down into submission"? just asking...

I visit Chicago on business staying usually a month or more downtown. Never been to Steamworks but would be willing to try. However, I would prefer meeting somebody there prearranged so they can show me the ropes, so to say! I was told there is a bondage room to play. Can anyone give me some details on that? It was totally fun! So much fun, I loved swimming in the boiling water, haha! The Saunas were too hot for me, could barely breathe, but the 2nd and 3rd floors were so cruisy! I want to go to a Light's Out Party as well, but it was already dark on friday night, that I don't understand how much dimmer it can get, like, completely DARK? WOW!

went to bear bath and beyond event yesterday 3pm-5pm. Very busy and very active. Rooms were all sold out so I just got a locker and walked around in a towel and a camouflage ball cap. Met some hot guys and most everyone was there to play and not just stand and parade around which was a nice change. The event has become very popular I guess Ill have to go earlier to get a room next month. Hope to see some of you there. If you have questions feel free to ask me Jim

Another bi married guy here. I went once last year. Check-in at the front window is simple. You must show your ID but I wouldn't worry about that. It's a pretty discreet place. The collect your valuables: wallet, watch, rings, etc. and put them in a safe. You pay for a room or whatever you want. I got a standard room with bed/TV. In the room, there's a locker under the bed for your clothes. You get a towel to wear around you, but it barely fit around me–it's made for the twink set! You will have a key on an elastic band to wear around your arm that locks your room door and locker. I didn't have as much fun as I thought I would. I went on a Saturday night and I think I'm not what that crowd was looking for. YMMV

Tomas: just noticed you'll be near O'Hare - usually the best way to get to the Red Line from where you'll be on the Blue Line is to go all the way downtown on the Blue Line, switch at Jackson to the Red Line, then head north. Google maps may suggest a different route, but I think heading into the Loop then back up north is easier.
