The 'straight' room has four rows of reclining black chairs (comfy but the layout isn't great for cruising/seeing all who are in the theater. The lighting in this room is very dark. The gay/straight room has four rows split by an aisle... same reclining chairs. This room has more light so you can see better. Update 3/24/2008: Theathers change again. Now two theaters, two tv's in each. Theaters separated by 3/4 wall. Can access both by same entrance. UPDATE: The theaters have been completely remodeled. There is now one big theater with 3 screens, gay in the middle, straight on either side. The are 3 rows of big reclining chairs so you can stretch out and relax while you enjoy the films. There is also a long bench along the back row if you don't mind sitting close to someone. The crowd is still the same mix and much more relaxed than Adult Depot on Kurtz. Though at the right time the action can be pretty hot. Kind of a quiet spot. The theaters have a one-way window so you can see when someone is coming in. Gives you time to straighten yourself out before they get into theater. I've had good luck hear with straight guys. Have seen everything to hot one one one action to group bi- stuff.

Where exactly
Across street from MCRD, down street from the huge Post Office on Midway. Next door to Volare Italian Restaurant. Cross street: Pacific Highway
Cruisiest spot: The two theaters are hot. The booths are buddy sized and usually not very cruisy.
When to go
Update 4/23/2008: now open 24hrs previous hours: Closed 2-6am. Best times: Evenings 5-8pm M-F, Weekend afternoons 2-6pm.
Etiquette
Go into the theaters and grab a seat. Make eye contact and start rubbing your crotch.
Nudity: Be discreet as there are some REAL straight men who don't want to be bothered.
Safety
Very quiet at times. When it rains, it pours, though. Have talked to a lot of people at this place and nobody has ever been hassled by the staff or cops.

hey guys, in SD in a few weeks, which ABS do you recommend for downtown hotel guests using cabs or public transport? Not just the most convenient, but also where there is good safe (as can be) action? Thanks - have been to the Kurts St Adult Depot before, but I realise popularity comes and goes

I agree with CUMSUKR; however, there are also some other issues involved. I was involved in the ownership of any adult business so I speak from experience. The regulating agencies for the many licenses involved can and do send in deep undercover operative to see if the place is " fostering" or "promoting" lewd activites so in many cases the mop boy is patrolling to slow the action down and UC cops can and have arrested for battery for unwarranted touching if the cop is a decoy. We would get a report of what was noted in our theatre of what the UC saw ( and in 2 instances - video taped ) and what we were expected to do to prevent it in the future. Inside the theatre at the Jolar is a much safer place to play than a park bathroom when all things are considered.

Hey Sam....My brother is a SDPO and he says that they can't arrest you if the police need to PAY to get into an area of the theater. The arcades are usually good places for them to arrest, but not a theater behind locked doors. When you use the arcade booths and leave the door unlocked or invite someone in, that is where stings happen.

When vice cops work an ABS there will generally be a pair of them, though it might not be obvious they are together. If anyone does witness a bust going down (and you are not among the busted) whip out your cell phone and get pics of the vice cops to post on the web.

not in san diego anymore but travleled down to san diego over the past 2 days and went to barnetts mon nite slow but tuesday nite pretty good. played with a mexican couple but thenthey left. if you read this thanks for the fun then 2 girls came in wqith a guy but they left after few shprt minutes till next time pay safe have fun

Ask for a theater ticket at the register, the chics up there dont care. the prices are higher than either adult depots, but you can go and cumback for more if you dont use all your time. After I do my deed there, I usually leave my receipt on top of the waste can, tucked under the lid, outside the back entrance if I leave b4 my 4 hours are up, they woodnt know the difference, just show em that and theyll buz you in.

Letsmeetincbad: Simple. The booths lock. The booths have two "money slots". One for the house and one for the girl. You drop a 20 in the house slit and the window shade goes up. Slide another 20 in the girl's slot and she will strip for you and play with herself for you. You sit there and stroke to the live show. If you are generous with the girl she should put on a pretty good show.

dont go sunday nights, theres this nasty old black man that berps and then snores loudly in the theater, its not enough to try to ignore him, he thinks its his hotel room. Also some very old men in there (im talking look like they need a walker) that just camp out in the back rows and wander around talking to themselves, boner killers. I attempted to wait a few of them out and sit tight, but they woodnt finish up and leave. afternoons on this day are prob better.

I have sever allergic reactions to anything thats not all woman or all man. The last time a cross dresser or TS walked into the theater, I started vomiting uncontrollably and broke out in hives. Unfortunately, I had to leave right away since I went completely limp, my bladder gave way as well, and I almost pooped my pants.
