De Trut, volunteer-run queer club in Amsterdam Oud-West
De Trut is a Sunday night with a purpose. This non-commercial queer club has been run entirely by volunteers since 1985, and the net profit goes to the Stichting Fonds De Trut, which funds LGBTQIA+ projects worldwide. Drink prices are low. You find it at Bilderdijkstraat 165-E in Amsterdam Oud-West. The De Trut party runs every Sunday from 10pm to 3am, with dancing. It is a safe place for lesbians, trans people, gay men and everyone in between, and gay and straight guests mix. Alcohol is served only to over-18s, and ID may be asked. The house rules are strict and worth knowing before you queue. Phones must be switched off, visibly, at the door, and smart glasses are banned. No photos or filming. No hard drugs and no smoking. The club is not rented out for private parties or shoots.
