Part two of our Asian Association Dinner Series, on August 1, diners will have another opportunity to travel through Asia and experience the street food from 5 different countries. Korea, Philippines, China and Japan. Joining Anju’s owner Roy Oh behind the line is Edgar Guiterez of Edmonton's Tres Carnales & Rostizato, Eric Hendry of Model Milk, Dean Chan of Umami and a mystery chef that will be revealed the day of the event! The night will be a journey through the streets of Asia for a truly one of a kind dining experience. The best part is you won't need a passport or luggage for this cullinary journey! First conceptualized as an evening of no frills dining in 2014, Roy Oh and a handful of Calgary chefs hosted a dinner party in Marda Loop where guests were invited to line up with cash in hand and wait for their turn to dine. The inaugural family style dinner turned out to be a huge success and Oh knew that this wouldn’t be the last collaborative dinner he’d host. “We wanted to cook food outside of the boundaries of our restaurants. The idea is to create a night that’s a little more spontaneous – where we’re not taking ourselves too seriously. It’s a lot of fun to cook casual Asian cuisine and showcase a few different cultures at the same time,” says Oh who is leading the charge with the upcoming event on August 1. The format is once again a set price of $75 per person with proceeds from each ticket going to Mealshare. Guests who wish to attend are asked to make reservations at Anju at their earliest convenience as seating will be limited. The cost of the tickets includes a welcome cocktail and a 10-course dinner, with five snacks, followed by five main courses.
